I remember 25 years ago when I was an environmental science major in college, reading about how the world was going to fall apart by 2020 if we didn’t do something about it. That seemed so far away then. Back when there was hope of turning things around. I tried for a long time. I studied, I advocated, I taught. And then I stopped.

I still throw my glass jars in the recycling bin, mostly. Then I wonder why I even bother.

I agree. I didn't start taking it seriously until I was an adult with our first child. I tried everything back then, all the right things, but in the end I think I just wanted attention for my efforts. So does that make all the things I did fake? No. Do I still do them? Kinda. I always want to do better, but the stories of floods by the sea really get to me and make me wonder if there's a point when all of these terrible things are happening. So much so that my 18 year old son gets pretty emotional about it all, and that's saying something.

I think the younger generations especially have a right to be very, very concerned. Climate anxiety and climate grief are totally a thing nowadays.

This made me laugh. Talking about generations makes me feel old. :D That said, I don't mind the aging process so much, but that's a different story.
